Implementing a DQC System for Pipe Joint Dimension Inspection

Client Profile

The client is a manufacturer specializing in the production and processing of plastic pipes. The client’s name has been withheld to ensure confidentiality.

Current Situation

  • The metal joints between pipes require high dimensional accuracy to ensure that the connected plastic pipes, which are pressure-resistant, do not leak during operation.

  • The client is currently using a K* measurement and inspection system (name withheld for confidentiality) to measure dimensions and detect scratches on the joints. However, the system is expensive and maintenance support is slow and insufficient.

  • The client is looking for a more cost-effective alternative with reliable maintenance support.

Digital Transformation Solution

Based on an on-site survey, DEHA Digital Solutions proposed the following approach:

  • Use camera and lens equipment from alternative manufacturers that provide similar functionalities but at lower cost, to measure the dimensions of pipe joints (as illustrated below).

  • Integrate the setup with DEHA’s DQC system to enhance inspection efficiency and connect with the factory’s warehouse management system (WMS) to ensure seamless data consistency across operations.
